Hi all :) I finally have a moment for updates...It has been an interesting adventure thus far but we have made it. We're here in the Lovely Tasmania. Teemu started cherry picking this week with only a couple close encounters with the local wildlife or what appeared to be wildlife, aka a hose that when stepped on at the same moment in which someone turns it on, looks and sounds like a poisonous snake and for one fleeting moment sheer panic and fear for your life pulse through every fiber of your body and mind until the truth is revealed :) Aside from the horrify hose and a mammoth sized moth Teemu is flourishing in the forest of cherry trees.
I on the other hand will be taking care of household chores until my work and holiday visa gets sorted. Apparently my medical documents have been floating about in Cyberspace and are still looking for a location to land :) I had considered staying in the London airport for a reenactment of "The Terminal" but I am glad that I chose to get a temporary Travel Visa instead. If I hadn't, I would still be there!!! Living in an airport for a couple days is good for a laugh but it may get a bit redundant after a while. All the TV screens play the same movie after all, "Arrivals and Departures"...have seen that film before? It's quite boring really, just a bunch of city names and times...maybe it's some kind of documentary :) Well anyways, once my medical documents get sorted, it appears that I will be going on a universe appointed trip out of Australia into the land of Kiwis for a couple days...hopefully sooner rather than later.
We also purchased an almost leak proof camper van ;) Some of my housekeeping chores include patching the leaks in our roof...hehehehe. Our first night in our home on wheels occurred during a hurricane, ok well maybe not a hurricane, but it was definitely windy and the rain blew every direction including up. We learned some valuable lessons such as camper vans parked on an angle can't handle so much rain running in the same direction and it will find a way inside. The universe must have thought we were a bit smelly and needed a good shower :)
The view and the people here are fantastic. Everyone that we have come in contact with has been soooooo helpful!!! And the landscape is stunning. Internet access seems to be a thing of the future though. I have found only two cafes in Hobart, the main city, that offer free wifi. One is McDonald's which I'm not desperate enough to support. The other is a little cafe that leaves you smelling of fried food for hours on end. If you happened to get some interesting inspiration to smell my hair you would think that I had swapped my curly hair concoction for a bottle of frying oil. However, today I found the sweetest woman in a lovely cafe called "agogo" who is letting me use her personal wifi. Her cafe is located on the Southern Outlet in the town of Kettering right close to the turnoff for the Kettering Ferry Terminal. A kind universe indeed :) And she has a real wood fired pizza oven with real homemade pizza...I've been watching her make her own sauces and ingredients all day long from local ingredients...in fact a woman came in to drop off a load of her homegrown garlic the lovely purple kind.
I've found a plethora of plum trees that I have enjoyed grazing on. Oh, and fennel grows everywhere here...a nice addition to any salad :) The price of food here has been a kind reminder of how blessed I've been back home to enjoy mom's free-range organic eggs free of charge...they're $11 a dozen here. I also feel super blessed that I got to enjoy the bounty of fresh produce that came from the garden I grew last summer.
Now I am working on manifesting enough frequent flyer miles to venture to New Zealand and back without adding to my recently growing credit card balance. Not that my credit card company would mind...I'm sure they are enjoying my business as of late...hehehehe. Later today I hope to make a massive batch of fermented veggies. If they turn out well I will let you know and give you the recipe, if the outcome is not so favorable I will act as if they never existed and if you ask I will pretend that I don't know what you're talking about...hehehehe...Just kidding, I've made many a fermented food and am confident in the outcome.
Bye for now...many hugs and good wishes that your adventure be as bright as you desire.
More updates to come when inspiration coupled with the right time and space allow it :)
